New Westminster's population is about 92,000. It's nicknamed "the Royal City" — founded in 1859 as the original capital of the Colony of British Columbia, before the capital moved to Victoria in 1868. It's small and dense, with a lot of condo development, several SkyTrain lines converge here, and a wave of new highrises has gone up along the river in recent years.
